  8. ImageBrowser has a very simple purpose: To display PICT image in a slideshow fashion.

It will scan all of the files in its folder (except applications) and display any PICT images it finds either in the data fork or the resource fork of a file. The delay can be changed by pressing any of the number keys on the top of the keyboard (1 gives you the fastest speed; 0 is the slowest). You may also click the mouse to advance to the next image, and the arrow keys are used to change the delay, and to advance to the next or go back to the previous image.

  22. Type any key not listed here to quit the program. The delay is listed as being in "minimum seconds". This means that the program will not advance images any faster than the current setting, but if some images take longer than that time to load into memory, the delay may be noticeably longer.

  24. ImageBrowser will display the images on the deepest monitor connected to your machine. If there are two monitors of the same depth, it will choose the larger monitor. If an image is larger than the monitor, it will scale it down (keeping the proportions).

It is capable of finding PICT information in both the resource fork and the data fork of a file. Since most PICT images are stored in the data fork, it will look there first. If it doesn't find one, or if it does not have enough memory to load it, it will then look in the resource fork and pull the first PICT resource it finds. Thus, if you notice that ImageBrowser is just taking the miniature previews of your files, giving it more memory will probably help.

  28. You can also drag-and-drop files or folders onto the ImageBrowser icon. If a folder is dropped onto the application, it will recursively search all enclosed folders for images.

During the startup about box, hold down the option key to access preferences. The preferences allow you to stop showing the about box during every startup, and to eliminate the fade in/fade out between images. If you dismiss the about box and want to get it back again, throw away the preferences file.
